About this diet
Energizing Lamb is one of the richest recipes in our everyday range, and that is the point of it. At 157 kcal and 7.0 g of fat per 100 g it carries noticeably more energy than our chicken or beef recipes, which makes it a sensible choice for dogs who burn through calories — working and sporting dogs, dogs who stay lean no matter how much they are fed, and dogs rebuilding condition after illness.
Lamb is also a genuinely useful protein for sensitive dogs. Like pork, it appears far less often in commercial food than chicken or beef, so most dogs have had little prior exposure. Combined with a completely grain-free base of potato and sweet potato, it gives you a recipe with very few of the usual suspects in it.
Fat also carries flavour and aroma, which is why lamb tends to win over dogs who pick at their food. Broccoli, carrot and green bean provide vitamins, while flaxseed and sunflower oils supply the essential fatty acids that keep skin comfortable and coats glossy.
This is one of five recipes in our Low Allergy series — fish, pork, lamb, turkey and venison. Each is built on a protein most dogs have rarely encountered, so if one doesn't suit your dog, there are four others to move to without leaving fresh food.
