About this diet
Some dogs need two things at once. This recipe is our Kidney Care formulation with fat restriction added, for dogs living with chronic kidney disease who also cannot tolerate fat — most often because of pancreatitis, a history of it, or high blood lipids.
Managing both at once is genuinely difficult with ordinary food. A renal diet rich enough to stay palatable is usually too high in fat for a pancreatic dog; a low-fat diet is rarely low enough in phosphorus for a renal one. This recipe is built to satisfy both sets of limits at the same time.
Phosphorus and sodium are restricted to protect kidney function, protein is moderated in quantity while kept high in quality, and fat is held low throughout — lean chicken breast rather than a fattier cut, with white rice and sweet potato providing easily digestible energy in place of added fats.
Omega-3 from sardines contributes anti-inflammatory support, and the high moisture content of fresh food helps keep your dog hydrated, which eases the kidneys' workload. Always start a therapeutic diet with your vet's guidance.
FAQ
It's a complete daily meal, not a topper — formulated by a PhD veterinary nutritionist to be fed as your dog's main diet. Because it's therapeutic, nutrient levels are deliberately adjusted for the target condition rather than following standard AAFCO/FEDIAF maintenance profiles. Always start a therapeutic diet under your vet's guidance.
Introduce it gradually over 7–10 days, mixing increasing amounts with the current food, to avoid digestive upset.
Yes — it supports your vet's management plan. Keep giving any prescribed medication and review progress with your vet.
Fresh food is high in moisture and highly digestible, and lets us control fat, protein and minerals precisely with real ingredients — no fillers or preservatives.
Keep packs frozen (6-month shelf life). Thaw overnight in the fridge and serve at room temperature; once thawed, use within 3 days.
That's deliberate. Dogs with chronic kidney disease need carefully controlled protein and phosphorus — too much of either adds to the kidneys' workload and lets waste products build up in the blood. This recipe uses a smaller amount of high-quality protein, so your dog still gets the essential amino acids they need with less waste for the kidneys to filter. The remaining energy comes from gentle carbohydrates instead. Feed under your vet's guidance.
Our food is made with natural, whole ingredients, so appearance and texture vary slightly between batches — meat, vegetables and fruit change with the season and the harvest. Every batch is made to the same recipe and nutritional standard and passes the same quality checks, so the nutrition your dog receives stays the same.
